The Olathe Citizens Police Academy runs through the Fall season and meets every Thursday night from 6:30 to 10 p.m. for ten weeks.
This program is not an accredited certification course to become a sworn police officer.
Apply online for the 2026 Citizen's Police Academy once applications open on July 1. Applications will close July 31.
The nine-week, fast-paced academy includes:
- Classroom time
- Hands on displays
- Ride-along with a police officer
Citizens will interact with personnel in numerous police assignments including:
- Patrol
- Investigations
- Tactical Support Unit
- Canine Unit
- Traffic Unit
The Citizens Police Academy is sponsored by:

- Citizens Police Advisory Council (CPAC)
