A site plan for Cedar Lake Park was originally completed in 2016 as part of the Cedar Lake/Lake Olathe Master Plan.

However, Olathe has an updated Parks & Recreation Master Plan and resident priorities have changed. The City of Olathe is reevaluating resident preferences to determine the future for Cedar Lake Park.

The City’s consultant, Vireo, has developed two alternatives being considered as part of the process for determining the direction for the park’s site design.

An in-person meeting was held on January 11, 2024 at the Olathe Community Center where residents were able to provide feedback and ask questions to the consultant and City staff.

Additionally, a virtual public meeting was held on January 31, 2024 from 5:30-6:30 p.m.

The City of Olathe is planning for improvements to Black Bob Park, including a new playground, picnic shelter, restrooms and parking lot.

Design work is underway at Prairie Center Park. On the north side of the park, patrons and visitors can expect a new parking lot, existing parking lot improvements, an improved playground, drainage improvements, and improvements to the recreational trail and the disc golf course. Construction is expected to begin in early 2024.

The playground located on the south side of the park near ball fields 1-4 has a new synthetic turf play surface.
