If you are planning a project that involves excavation equipment, not hand-digging projects, you are required to request utility location services. The locate must be requested at least 2 full working days (not including the day of the call, weekends or holidays), but no more than 20 calendar days prior to the start of your excavation project.
Digging without location can disrupt service to an entire neighborhood, harm you and those around you, and potentially result in fines and repair costs. Personal injury, dangerous environmental conditions, and extensive property damage can be avoided if underground utilities are located before you dig.

For emergency utility location service, please call 913-971-9311.
- City of Olathe utility location services are only available during normal business hours (weekdays 8 am to 5 pm, excluding City-observed holidays).
- If you require a locate for irrigation in street medians or right-of-way areas, contact Mike Katzer (913-971-9725) at least two business days in advance.
- WaterOne provides water service to some residences within the City of Olathe. If WaterOne is your water service provider, submit a WaterOne Location Request.
