Planning Commission Meeting in City Council Chambers

Annexation is a process of bringing unincorporated land into the City limits. Property annexation is a fairly common practice, as it is one of the main ways a city grows. Incorporated municipalities will consider annexing land to maintain the fiscal and physical growth of the community. When property is annexed into the City of Olathe, it means the property is represented by Olathe City Council and is governed by City of Olathe ordinances.

Annexation does not change a property’s address, nor does it affect school district boundaries or existing zoning.
