2. If applicable, get a Kansas Sales Tax ID Number
3. Make sure your business services are allowed based on the selected property's zoning/site specific ordinances
4. Apply for a commercial building permit for any new construction or remodel (before starting construction)
5. Apply for an occupancy permit if there is no new construction and you require a certificate of occupancy
6. If applicable, apply for the appropriate license from Olathe
7. Make sure proposed signage is within Olathe ordinance rules and Johnson County permit regulations
8. Apply for a sign permit

Home Occupations & Businesses

Home Occupations are permitted as an accessory to a residential use and must be conducted in accordance with UDO 18.50.070. Contact the Planning Division at 913-971-8750, PlanningContact@OlatheKS.gov or via OlatheConnect for questions. If applicable, contact your Homeowners Association (HOA) and check your private Declarations & Restrictions for further requirements.
