City of Olathe Reveals Snowplow Named After Sporting KC Star Daniel Salloi
In what is believed to be an MLS first, Sporting Kansas City forward Daniel Salloi is the first ever player in the league to have a snowplow named after him as the City of Olathe’s latest snowplow "Daniel Plowloi" joins an esteemed fleet on the streets of Olathe this winter. Other named snowplows include the fan favorites like "Travis Kelsleet," "Taylor Drift," and "Isaiah Plowcheco," among many others.
“The City of Olathe already has a championship lineup of snowplows serving the community, so it only made sense to add a plow named after an MLS All-Star and former league MVP finalist to our crew,” said City Manager Michael Wilkes. "We're excited to see "Daniel Plowloi" delighting residents on the streets of Olathe the way Daniel Salloi delights Sporting KC fans on the field."
When a winter weather event is forecasted for Olathe, the snow removal team begins formulating an operational plan to best treat the predicted conditions. Because no two storms are the same and forecasts can change rapidly, no two operational plans are the same.
After pretreatment, City crews work around the clock to maintain passable streets during a winter storm. Major roadways and collector streets receive priority during snow events to maintain emergency routes. Once the storm has ended, crews continue working until all roadways are cleared.
