City of Olathe Earns Top 5 Ranking in National Digital Cities Survey

Post Date:11/06/2024 2:07 PM

The Center for Digital Government (CDG) announced the winners of the 24th annual Digital Cities Survey, recognizing cities utilizing technology to enhance digital services and transparency, strengthen cybersecurity, digital privacy rights, and digital equity, and those finding ways to support solutions for social challenges facing cities.

The City of Olathe earned fourth place in the 125,000 to 249,000 population size category. This ranking is two places higher than the 2023 survey.

Noted successes include technology investments aimed at addressing funding limitations, meeting evolving public health responsibilities, and supporting a growing and diverse population. A standout component of Olathe’s digital strategy is the OlatheConnect portal, which was expanded in 2024 and serves as a virtual City Hall. OlatheConnect allows residents around-the-clock access to City services, enabling a real-time method for users to share feedback.

“The Top 5 ranking in the Digital Cities Survey is a well-earned distinction for the City of Olathe,” Olathe City Manager Michael Wilkes said. “City staff members dedicate themselves to finding innovative solutions aimed at enhancing the exceptional services Olathe residents receive and deserve.  I’m proud of this recognition and City of Olathe staff who work to make Olathe City Hall available at the touch of a button.”
